A TAILOR-MADE HOLIDAY DESIGNED BY SPECIALISTS
At ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½¹ÙÍø, all our holidays are created individually to suit your preferences and the Peru Family Adventure itinerary can be used for inspiration or as a starting point for your luxury Peru holidays. Whether you prefer a different style of accommodation, a greater focus on a particular experience or wish to include extra stops on your journey, our experts will design an itinerary that is entirely unique to you.
ABOUT THE ITINERARY
South America is great for families, but Peru stands out with its wonderful mixture of adventure, wildlife and culture, keeping children of all ages entertained.
In our Peru Family Adventure itinerary, we have focused on Peru’s southern wonders and included some of the famous attractions around the Inca capital of Cusco. We know that children get bored easily though, so we have included unusual and exciting ways to experience the country and avoided too much time on planes, in vehicles or in museums.
Whilst away you will hike the one-day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, bike through the local villages and markets of the Sacred Valley and white-water raft on one of South America’s most pristine and exhilarating rivers. Explore the ancient Inca capital of Cusco, but rather than walking around churches and cathedral, you will learn the significance of the colourful Pucara bull and visit the city’s chocolate café.
Looked after by expert guides and staying in some beautiful boutique properties, the Peru Family Adventure has been designed to keep everyone entertained and is a great introduction to the wonders of South America.
THE SACRED VALLEY
Your Peruvian adventure starts at Cusco airport, where you will be met and driven into the Sacred Valley of the Incas, the perfect setting when adjusting to the thin-air of the Andes.
Over the following days you will explore the ancient Inca sites and stunning mountain scenery of the Sacred Valley. Hiking, mountain biking, stand-up paddle boarding and by 4×4, you will visit the dazzling salt pans of Maras, the Inca terraces at Moray and have chance to barter at local markets in Ollantaytambo and Pisac. You’ll likely encounter some Alpacas too!
Your base is the beautiful Sol y Luna hotel, which is set within stunning grounds and has its own outdoor heated swimming pool.
Stay: Four nights at Sol y Luna – bed & breakfast
MACHU PICCHU
Today you will hike the one-day ‘Royal’ Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
After an early breakfast board the train towards Machu Picchu, alighting early at km104 where the 12km hike to the ruins begins. Following an ancient Inca trail, you ascend through tropical cloud forest and climb high above the roaring Urubamba River.
After a full-day of hiking, you will get your first glimpse of the ruins as you arrive at the Sun Gate. Savour the moment as you walk through the ruins, before your tour of Machu Picchu the following morning.
Stay: One night at the Inkaterra Machu Picchu – half-board
CUSCO
After a morning exploring Machu Picchu, board the train back to Cusco and your final stop in Peru.
Cusco was once the Inca capital and has a blend of Inca and Spanish colonial architecture. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site you will spend a day exploring the city and the surrounding ruins and alos have a day white water rafting on the mighty Apurimac River.
The 3,000m deep canyon forms part of the Amazon’s source and promises a fun and adrenaline filled way to end your time in South America.
Stay: Three nights at Inkaterra La Casona – bed & breakfast
FLY HOME
Your final morning is free to relax and explore the cobbled streets of Cusco or possibly venture to the artistic San Blas district, before you are taken to Cusco airport for your onward connections.
